Details About Upcoming 2nd Annual Driver Appreciation Night

Banks, Oregon- Many of you are asking, “What is this Drivers Appreciation Night everyone is talking about?". Well here is the scoop on the 2nd Annual Drivers Appreciation Night that will be held on Saturday August 8th. Last year Sunset Speedway thought of a new way to Thank their drivers for their continued support, needless to say it was a HIT!!! We gave 1480 tickets away last year to the drivers, we had 1194 driver tickets come back through the gates. WOW, that is amazing! Great job drivers!!!
“Last year we wanted to come up with a way to show our drivers that we greatly appreciate their continued support throughout all the years. The tickets that we are providing to the drivers are for them to give to all their sponsors, fans, friends, families or maybe even strangers who have never come to the races. Hopefully we will gain new fans for years to come by putting this event on. We wanted to give back to the drivers and hope they enjoy this event. We would like to continue this for years to come.” stated Nikki Gamell, Regional Manager, “At the end of the day we want our drivers and crews to know that we are very thankful that they choose to race with us here at Sunset Speedway, as we all know they have the choice on where they race. We hope to see everyone at this event, as it is sure to be a success once again. Let’s pack the house and beat our numbers from last year!”
For those who didn't attend last year here are the details for this event: Each driver who has attended 80% of the races, Sunset Speedway will provide 20 General Grandstand tickets and drivers under 80% will receive 10 General Grandstand tickets. On the ticket stub, there is a section that the driver MUST fill out in order to be eligible for the random draw giveaways. The drivers who have the most amount of guests who attend Driver’s Appreciation night will be entered into a drawing for some prizes. The first draw will be for a new driver’s suit (drivers who have all 20 of their guests are eligible for this prize only). The secondary prizes include aluminum jacks, battery chargers/tenders, tire pressure gauges, and other miscellaneous items.
Following the races we will be having an “Appreciation Party” where we will have a fire pit, cornhole tournament and potluck. We have sign-up sheets at the office for the potluck items, or you can call/email Laurie or Nikki to sign up for the item you choose to bring. The categories have been split up as following : Late Models, IMCA Modifieds & B-Mods – Main Dish, Street Stocks – Dessert, Pure Stocks, Micros & Dwarfs – Side Dishes/Salads, 4-Bees – Plates, Napkins, Silverware. Bring your own beverage. Please be sure to email or call to sign up so we do not have multiple items we have many drivers already signed up.
The format of this night will be similar to Fan Appreciation Night, we will have qualifying, trophy dashes and mains ONLY. There will be NO HEATS. We will line up all the cars on the front stretch where all of their guests will be able to enter on to the front stretch to meet and greet all the other drivers.
