Sunset Speedway Park would have a smooth night of events on Saturday July 13th. The Banks bullring would feature four exciting classes on the card. Those classes would include the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Womens divisions.
Collen Winebarger was back to his winning ways in the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series. The Corbett driver, in his Discount Race Car Parts/All-In Property Investments/Hillsboro Vac and Sew #1 MasterSbilt, would take full advantage of his front row stating position and lead the entire distance. The victory would mark Winebarger’s fifth win of the series and his third at SSP.
Chris Hallberg of Sandy would become the newest winner in the IMCA Modified division. Once the Hallberg Racing #01 machine was out front he was off and running. Hallberg becomes the sixth different winner in as many races in the classification at Sunset.
Back in victory lane for the third time this season was Craig Loomis in the Street Stocks. The Vancouver, Washington native has been absent from the winner’s circle since the early goings of the season. Only a few cautions would take place and by lap six the Buz’s Equipment Trailers/City Sprint Delivery/Liberty Welding #01 Camaro of Loomis was in the lead and would not look back. He is now tied for most wins in the class so far this season.
It was no surprise that Freya Smith was the winner of the Womens race. Performing another clean sweep of events the McMinnville pilot would have no issues all night long. Seizing the lead around the halfway mark the Sweere’s Auto Body/Sweere’s Trucking/Tire Factory of McMinnville #37 Camaro entry has went a perfect sevens wins in seven starts this year.
Coming up next Saturday night on July 20th will be the return of the Dancin’ Bare Topless 100. Classes on the card will include the IMCA Modifieds, Northwest Extreme Sprints, Midgets, and 4-Bees. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
