Northwest Extreme Late Model Series Back In Action This Saturday

Banks, Oregon- After a week hiatus the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will be in action for their fifth race of 2013 on Saturday June 15th. Returning to the Sunset Speedway Park for the fourth time this year fans will be entertained as these “Dirt Track Warriors” will be battling lap after lap on the ¼-mile clay oval bullring.
In four series races this year Greg Walters and Collen Winebarger are tied for the most wins in 2013. Walters won the first two events while Winebarger has been victorious in the last two shows. Both of Walters’ triumphs occurred at SSP while Winebarger has one win at Sunset (at the Rose Festival Dirt Cup in early June) and the other at the Cottage Grove Speedway. Winebarger is coming off a big win at the Cottage Grove Speedway last weekend in a local show to bring his overall win total at three. Can anyone stop “Superman” Winebarger.
Out of the thirteen visits by the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series to Sunset Speedway Park Greg Walters is the only driver to win more than once. Walters has a firm grip on the win column as he has amassed a sum of eight wins since the tour’s inception back in 2010. Joining Walters are five drivers that have visited victory lane once when the organization has visited town. Those drivers are Terry Ferrando, Jerry Schram, Russ Sell, Billy Workman Jr., and the aforementioned Collen Winebarger.
The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. From April until October you can get your racing fix at this facility which competes weekly primarily on Saturday nights. Regular classes in action include the NW Extreme Winged Sprint Cars, IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bee’s, NW Extreme Modifieds, and the Womens division.
