MIKE LEATY DRIVES TO $10,000 WIN IN THE F/A PRODUCTS MAYNARD TROYER CLASSIC IV AT SPENCER SPEEDWAY
The Race of Champions Modified Series concluded it’s season this past Friday at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., with the Maynard Troyer Class IV which paid $10,000-to-win for the Race of Champions Modified Series.
Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y., started 12th and used a late race pass to head to victory lane. It was Leaty’s second victory of the season.
“We had a good car and I had to be patient,” smiled Leaty in victory lane. “Once we broke from traffic, we had to run Andy (Jankowiak) down. It was a lot of fun, the most fun I’ve had in a racecar in awhile. I am thankful for all of my guys and this race team. This is our second win in this race and that ring is for my Dad.”
Leaty topped Andy Jankowiak of Tonawanda, N.Y., and young Paulie Hartwig of Galloway, N.J.
George Skora, III of Eden, N.Y., and current point leader, Zane Zeiner of Bath, Pa., rounded out the top-five.
Bryan Sherwood of Binghamton, N.Y., Zeiner and Tommy Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., won the qualifying races. Tommy Catalano also turned in the fastest time during the green-white-checker qualifying session.
Leaty also won the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series event. Leaty took the lead from Shawn Nye of Lancaster, N.Y., and went on to the victory. Nye finished 2nd with Chris Finnoccharrio of Macedon, N.Y., finishing 3rd.
Andy Lewis, Sr., of Ontario, N.Y., and Daryl Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.
Trevor Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., Eddie Hawkins of Marion, N.Y., and Daryl Lewis, Jr., won the qualifying races.
Andrew Cook won the Race of Champions Rocket Performance 602 Sportsman Modified Series event, while Frankie Parsons capture the Wilbert’s U-Pull It Super Six race.

The Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series concluded it’s season Sunday night at the Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario-Canada. Defending Series champion Adam Leslie of Wainfleet, Ontario, slipped past Brad Rouse of Fort Erie, Ontario for the victory. Jay Mallory of St. Catherines, Ontario, captured his first Series championship based off of a third place finish and will be at the Series Championship Party in January.
The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey with primary marketing partners Hoosier Racing Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Lucas Oil Products, MAVTV, MAVTV Plus, Airport Collision, Rocket Performance, Waddell Communications, Image X Design, Sherwood Racing Wheels, DirtTrackDigest.com and Speed Sport.
