DARYL LEWIS, JR., ANDY LEWIS, JR. AND TOM BARRON SHARE SPOTLIGHT ON 66TH OPENING NIGHT AT SPENCER SPEEDWAY IN RACE OF CHAMPIONS ACTION
Daryl Lewis Jr., of Ontario, N.Y., kept his Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series hot streak alive with his second consecutive Series victory this past Friday night in Williamson, N.Y., at Spencer Speedway as part of the tracks 66th season opening event.
Lewis took the lead after Kevin Timmerman ran into trouble navigating a lapped car late in the race. He held off Mike Leaty of Ontario, N.Y., and North Tonawanda, N.Y.’s, Andy Jankowiak to earn the victory.
“Tonight was a great night for my team and our family,” offered Lewis from victory lane. “My nephew won and so did we. It was a battle, but I’m so proud of all of our guys. This is just awesome. It is great to be back racing here at Spencer.”
Tommy Barron of Ontario, N.Y., took the lead from Gary Noe of Elmira, N.Y., and never looked back in the 30-lap Race of Champions Super Stock feature. It was also Barron’s second consecutive victory.
Barron held off Noe and Travis Montgomery of Ontario, N.Y., to claim the win.
Andrew Lewis, Jr., claimed his second Race of Champions “Rocket Performance” 602 Sportsman Modified Series victory.
Jacob Gustafason of Webster, N.Y., captured the Wilbert’s U-Pull It Four Cylinder feature while Ashley Schoonmaker of Ontario, N.Y., won the Wilbert’s U-Pull-It Super Six feature.

The season continues on Friday, July 30 at Spencer Speedway with the running of the Billy Whittaker Ford “F-50”, 50-laps $5,000-to-win for the Race of Champions Modified Series.
The Race of Champions is a sanctioning body presenting Modified and Stock Car racing on asphalt and dirt surfaces throughout the Northeast, with events in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey with primary marketing partners Hoosier Racing Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Waddell Communications, Image X Graphic Designs, Sherwood Racing Wheels, DirtTrackDigest.com, FX Caprara and Billy Whittaker Ford. The 71st annual Race of Champions weekend will take place in 2021 at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pennsylvania and is the second longest consecutive auto-racing event in North America, second only to the Indianapolis 500.
