SCHEDULE SET FOR 66th SEASON OF RACING AT SPENCER SPEEDWAY
After months of speculation and a worldwide pandemic where businesses faced multiple gathering restrictions, the 66th season of stock car racing action at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., will finally take place in 2021.
The 2020 season, which was set to host six races, never took place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The holding pattern created additional work at the facility, which will see four races once things come together for 2021.
The Race of Champions Modified Series will pay two visits to the popular 1/2/-mile located just east of the city of Rochester. On Friday, July 30, the series will take part in a 50-lap $5,000-to-win sprint race. On Friday, September 3, the Series will play a role in the Maynard Troyer Classic II. The Troyer Classic will be 60-laps, initially paying $6,000-to-win along with the champion of the event receiving a ring contributed Maynard Troyer fan and racing enthusiast, Scott Hossfeld of Depew, N.Y. The ring will be coming from the “Official Jeweler of the Race of Champions and the Racing Promotion Monthly Newsletter and Workshops” Graeber Jewelers located in West Seneca, N.Y.
The Maynard Troyer Classic will also become the region’s Modified Mania with Race of Champions Sportsman Modifieds and the Race of Champions 602 Sportsman Modifieds competing on the same night.
The Sportsman Modifed Series will highlight the schedule as the headline division on Friday, July 16, the 66th official opening of Spencer Speedway. The Sportsman will also highlight the night on Friday, August 20.
The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will pay three visits to the track on Friday, July 16; Friday, July 30 and Friday, August 20.
The action at Spencer Speedway will be presented by Wilbert’s U-Pull It this season. Wilbert’s U-Pull It will also be the title sponsor for the Four Cylinder and Super Six divisions. The Wilbert’s U-Pull It Four Cylinder division will appear in all four races at the speedway.
Wilbert’s, a familiar name in Western and Central New York, was founded by Arthur Wilbert in 1952. Arthur became the patriarch for one of the largest and most modern automotive recycling facilities in New York. From humble beginnings as a one-man collision shop, Wilbert’s has grown from a single facility offering only Buick parts to four facilities offering a full range of recycled domestic and import auto and light truck parts built where Cars and Car Service developed into a family passion, as well as a Christmas Tree Farm which has been passed down through generations. Today Art Wilbert’s sons maintain the business and the family customer service tradition built around the Wilbert name, while their facilities dot the landscape on Route 104, East of Rochester, along with a Wilbert’s U-Pull It location in Bath, N.Y., and their most recent acquisition in Elma, N.Y., offering customers a variety of automotive services, superior customer service and quality tested recycled parts at reasonable prices, including the unique option of U-Pull It, where customers have the ability to save and get the specific parts they need.
