2020 RACE OF CHAMPIONS FAMILY OF SERIES SCHEDULES RELEASED
Race of Champions management is releasing its 2020 racing “up-to-the-minute” schedules with the publication of a races scheduled for the Race of Champions family of series.
The schedule gives fans an opportunity to visit to premier racing facilities throughout the Northeast. These dates and locations will bring together traditional events with some exciting additions to the promotional calendar, giving everyone a variety of exciting events throughout the 2020 season to showcase the Race of Champions brand of racing.
The Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series season will have an eight (8) race schedule. Spencer Speedway in Willimason, N.Y., will play host to the Series on five occasions with two events at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., and a return to Holland (N.Y.) International Speedway for the Decker, plus an event that will be announced shortly. Last season Chuck Hossfeld of Ransomville, N.Y., was the Series champion.
The Race of Champions Super Stock Series will embark on a robust nine (9) race schedule mirroring much of the Sportsman Modified schedule with events at Spencer and Lake Erie, as well as a visit to Chemung in August for the traditional Ed McGuire Classic. In 2019, Tom Barron of Ontario, N.Y., scored the Series championship.
The Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series will kick off with a race at Chemung Speedrome on May 16 and swing through Lake Erie Speedway in June and September with stops at Holland and Spencer along the way. For the first time in the history of the series, which is entering its third full season, a point fund will be offered from Hoosier Racing Tire. The point fund amount will be based solely off the car count. Jacob Gustafson of Webster, N.Y., was the 2019 series champion.
The TQ Midgets joined the Race of Champions family of divisions in 2019 and Andy Jankowiak wore the crown. In 2020 the Series will once again pick up with a point fund based on car count as the Series enters its second season. The Series will race at Lake Erie Speedway, Chemung Speedrome, an event that is yet to be announced and potentially at Spencer Speedway after a test is conducted in May. The event at Spencer would be added on to one of the two late season dates.
Late Models will return to the Race of Champions schedule for a four (4) race series beginning at Chemung, stopping at Spencer and an event that will be announced shortly that will be one of the highlights of the Summer. The Series will conclude at Lake Erie in September. Terry Weldy of Clarence, N.Y., won the championship in 2019.
Street Stocks will take be added to the Race of Champions family of Series in 2020 with events at Holland International Speedway and Lake Erie Speedway.
The Series will join the Modified Series finale at the final event of the year, the premier event, the 70th Annual Presque Isle Downs and Casino Race of Champions Weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa., the premiere facility in the region for a weekend festival of racing.
