Baughman Bags Top Five with ASCS Southwest Region at Southern New Mexico Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – LAS CRUCES, N.M. (April 7, 2016) – Josh Baughman took advantage of a late decision to tackle last Saturday’s ASCS Southwest Region event.

Baughman and his team hauled to Southern New Mexico Speedway to catch the second half of the two-day event, which paid $5,000 to win.

“I wasn’t planning on it, but we decided at the last minute to go to Las Cruces,” he said. “It turned out to be a good night for us.”

Baughman won his heat race from the pole, which lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We got to fourth and were racing with Johnny (Herrera) pretty hard,” he said. “I felt like we had a top-three car and if we were in the redraw I felt like we would have had a shot to win it.”

Baughman ended with a fourth-place finish, which marked his second straight top five.

“Any time we can go forward that’s a plus for us,” he said. “Keeping the momentum going, especially this time of the year, is huge.”

Baughman will take this weekend off before returning to action on April 16 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, which will be the first of 12 races in 23 days for the team.
