Braaten Soars At Siskiyou Golden Speedway Opener
Yreka, California- Saturday, April 3rd was the first race of 2021 for Siskiyou Golden Speedway. Three classes of the card and just one was a part of the Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing program. Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Mini’s, and Jalopies.
Central Point, Oregon’s Jorddon Braaten was dominant in the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mod main event. Yreka youngster Ryan Peery took home second with Matt Sanders, of Brookings, Oregon, getting third. Roseburg, Oregon traveler David Schmidt posted a fourth-place finish while Ethan Killingsworth, from Yreka, capturing fifth. Killingsworth and Yreka native Ryder Boswell were the heat race winners.
In the Mini’s Michael Knuckles was the feature winner. Marilyn Yawnick was scored the runner-up with third going to Darek Alford. J.J. Smith took care of business in the Jalopies. Yawnick, performing double duty, was also second in the Jalopy main with Kade Bernstein taking third.
Siskiyou Golden Speedway returns to racing on Saturday, April 17th. Classes include the Karl Kustoms IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Limited Sprints, Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Association, and Mini’s. For more information check out the track Facebook page and website
