After two weekends off, one planned and the other forced by Mother Nature, three of the four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions returned to action in support of the AmeriFlex Oil Capital Racing Series Sprint Cars presented by Truck Lungs. A later start time coupled with extra moisture on the racing surface created a fast track from top to bottom for the event presented by Joe’s Hand Cleaner, which saw great racing from the start of the night to the final checkered flag.

The S&J Plumbing Pure Stocks took to a lightning fast racetrack in the first Feature of the evening. The full field of cars raced two and three wide for the greater part of the 15-lapper that also saw a slew of cautions and one red flag. The first ten laps of the event Nathan Campbell maneuvered traffic before overhauling Josh Shive for the lead. Campbell dominated the final third of the race as he collected his fifth win of the season and third in a row. Shive held on to second over his brother and teammate Erick Shive. Paul Dilbeck advanced thirteen spots to fourth and point leader, Jordon Shive rounded out the top five.

A high attrition rate was the main story of the AmeriFlex B-Mod A-Main as the 25-car field was dwindled to just a dozen by the time the 20-lap event was completed. Justin Shoemaker was docked two spots early in the race for jumping a restart, but the penalty did nothing to slow down the Inola, Oklahoma racer as he blistered the field in his second win this season. Shoemaker also claimed stake to the point lead, as Clint Johnson was absent from competition. Jeran Frailey turned in his best performance of the season driving from eleventh to second. Cody Jolly rolled from tenth to finish third, while Casey Lindell logged a season-best finish of fourth. Carl Conley II had perhaps the most impressive venture through the field from 24th to round out the top five. Randi Goins narrowly missed a top five finish but took home an additional $100 by winning the AmeriFlex “Lucky Draw.”

The Modified A-Main saw two distinct grooves come into play in the race for the lead throughout the 20-lap affair. Kyle Schmidt led a handful of laps early on the momentum line around the topside of the speedway, while Jared Russell worked the bottom and took over the lead on lap five. Russell powered around the bottom uncontested for a few laps before Jonathon Beyer gathered a run along the topside around the midway point to challenge Russell for the lead. The effort came up short as Russell protected the top spot and motored on to his second consecutive win of the season. Mitch Keeter drove from twelfth to finish in the runner-up spot just ahead of Tate Cole, who finished third. Previous leaders, Schmidt and Beyer faded to fourth and fifth, respectively.

Up next is Buddy’s Home Furnishings Night on Saturday, July 28th with all four NWAAS divisions and the Custom Coatings Trophy Cars.
