SAPULPA, Okla. (June 12, 2017) Blake Hahn hit the road with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network as the series kicked off the 2017 ASCS Sizzlin’ Summer Speedweek at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock and Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas.

The highlight of the weekend was a third place finish on Friday night at West Texas Raceway in Hahn’s first visit to the three-eighth mile oval.

Leading up the team hitting the road for Speedweek, a new JR1 Racecar was assembled with positive results thus far.

“The track was tricky on Friday. It was tacky all night so you had to be cowboy up or you’d lose it quick. Having the new car make it a lot easier.”

On the subject of the new whip, Blake explained, “We’ve had cars in the past that ended up we just needed to swap out the frame to make it right. It’s one of those things that happens. Jerry Russell builds a great car. We’ve run his cars since I was in Micros so I fully trust his craftsmanship and the way this car rolls just proves we made the right move.”

Hahn’s best National Tour finish of the season, the following night looked like it was shaping up for victory before a tire let got on the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 on the white flag lap at Route 66 Motor Speedway.

“It wasn’t the finish we wanted by far. Leading nearly the whole race, and having it slip away on the last lap was a kick to the gut, but at the same time, it is what it is. I was trying to conserve the tires as much as possible, but missed it by a lap. I just can’t thank my Dad and Dalton enough for the work they do to keep us on the track, and all our sponsors for sticking with us.”

Looking ahead, the ASCS Speedweek continues on Tuesday, June 13 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. Following the Devil’s Bowl, the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network heads north for the Lawton Speedway (Lawton, Okla.) on Wednesday, June 14 followed by Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, Okla.) on Thursday, June 15. On to Missouri for Randolph County Raceway (Moberly, Mo.) on Friday, June 16 and finally Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) on Saturday, June 17 before the series heads to Washington for the 46th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway (Alger, Wash.) on June 22-24.
