After having to sit out Tuesday’s World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series event at Gondik Law Speedway due to a bout with food poisoning, Dillard bounced back to lead a lap in Sunday night’s race at Red Cedar Speedway before settling into a runner-up finish behind Brandon Sheppard.

"I could get to him (Brandon Sheppard), but if I got any closer I couldn't really turn. I got that one good run in lapped traffic there and might've been far enough to slide him, might not have. He always runs me clean, so I was going to make sure I done the same,” Dillard said. “We'll take it. It's been a rough year, so it's rewarding to finally be turning it around a little bit. I’m going to enjoy a camping trip with my family this weekend, and then next week we’ll get back it at Fairbury."

After an illness sidelined him on Tuesday afternoon at Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.), Cade Dillard picked back up with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series on Friday evening at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.).

In a field of 34 cars, Cade clocked in fourth fastest in his group before picking up a 10-lap heat race win. Locked into the third-starting position for the A-Main via the redraw, Dillard faded one spot to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Dennis Erb Jr., Jimmy Mars, and Ryan Gustin across the line with Brandon Sheppard coming in fifth.

On Saturday afternoon at I-94 Sure Step Speedway (Fergus Falls, Minn.), Dillard posted a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the feature. With $10,000 on the line, Cade clawed forward one spot in the 40-lapper to finish sixth.

For the weekend finale on Sunday at Red Cedar Speedway (Menomonie, Wis.), Cade advanced two spots in his heat race to place second, which came behind Jimmy Mars.

Rolling off fifth for the $10,000-to-win A-Main, Dillard challenged leader Brandon Sheppard for the top spot throughout the second half of the race, briefly taking the lead on lap 20. He made a final charge late in the race but came in second at the line, trailing Sheppard to the checkers. Chris Madden, Jimmy Mars, and Ricky Weiss completed the Top-5 finishers.

Cade sits in seventh in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
