Wilson Tackling 360 Knoxville Nationals After World of Outlaws Weekend in New York

Inside Line Promotions – WEEDSPORT, N.Y. (Aug. 4, 2021) – Greg Wilson is bound for Iowa this weekend.

The Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics and DNC Hydraulics sponsored Seeling Motorsports driver plans to race on Friday and Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville during the 31st annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank. It marks his third career time competing in the event.

“It’s a good opportunity to try to prepare for the (410) Nationals,” he said. “Our 360 program has been good. We hope we can end up in the feature on Saturday night. With 90-some entries your goal should be to try to make the race. Getting to the final 24 with it as competitive as it is is an accomplishment.”

This weekend marks the first time in approximately one year since Wilson has competed at the track and it will be his first time at the 360 Knoxville Nationals since August 2019.

The team is coming off a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader in New York last weekend.

“I felt like it showed we’re slowly but surely getting where we need to be,” he said. “If we combined the two nights it would have been a good weekend. The first night we didn’t time in very well, but raced really well. The second night we timed in well, but didn’t race very well. Once we put a whole night together we’ll be in good shape.”

Wilson qualified 24th quickest before he advanced from eighth to sixth place in a heat race and from 18th to 14th in the A Main on Friday during The Big ‘R’ Shootout at Ransomville Speedway in Ransomville.

“We drew a late number for qualifying and I think only one car around us timed in well so that hurt,” he said. “I probably didn’t run the right part of the track in qualifying either. You could have turned a good lap by running down the race track. That started our night off wrong, but we raced well and were decent in the heat race and decent in the feature.”

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Weedsport Speedway during the Empire State Challenge. Wilson qualified eighth quickest before placing sixth in a heat race and 18th in the main event.

“I turned a decent lap in qualifying,” he said. “When the track got really slicked off we weren’t very good, which we’ve kind of struggled in those conditions.”
