Joey Ancona Racing Adds Top Ten Run at Plaza Park Raceway, Retakes Points Lead Entering “Summer Clash!”

Visalia, CA | September 2, 2015 – In the midst of an exciting battle for the track championship at Plaza Park Raceway, Joey Ancona strengthened his bid for the crown this weekend as he pieced together a solid second place qualifying time and top ten feature run to reclaim the points lead. With only four point races remaining in the 2015 season, the Concord, California native will look to extend his lead and park his Dryco Construction, Westbury Ironworks, Factory Kahne No. 88 in victory lane at this weekend’s “Summer Clash” at the Visalia facility.
Only competing on Friday night at Plaza Park, Ancona came storming out of the gates in qualifying as he laid down a blistering fast time of 11.709 seconds to earn second quick. The talented ten-year old would then claim third in heat race action and claim the fifth starting position in the main event.
The five-time winner in 2015 would hold his spot early on, however, heartbreak struck on lap six when Ancona was innocently spun around running fifth. After being sent tail back, the rising star came charging back through the field with a determination like no other. Slicing and dicing his No. 88 machine through the pack as he made daring moves left and right, Ancona was on a mission to the front. By the time the checkered flag finally flew, he was still picking off positions, but would be credited with a tenth place finish at the line.
His valiant effort on Friday night would prove worthy as Ancona climbed back atop the point standings at Plaza Park Raceway and is the current leader with four races remaining. He will return to the Visalia facility on this Friday and Saturday, September 4th and 5th, as the two-day “Summer Clash” commences.
