June 13, June 15 and June 27 cancelled at Park Jefferson

Park Jefferson Speedway officials have postponed this Saturday’s races and cancelled the Monday USMTS show. Due to issues related to insurance, the track is unable to race while the township road south of the racetrack is open. A request was made to Jefferson Township to temporarily close a small section of 700 feet of the road on race nights for four hours. However due to objections, the township decided to leave the road open and has caused the track to cancel all racing in June. The track only has asked for 700 feet to be closed and the remainder of the road to be open for neighboring farmers to have access to the road. The road closure would have no impact on any farmers access to their properties as the access is east of the requested closure. As the road is minimum maintenance, it came as a surprise that the Township felt a need to keep the road open.

The track has also informed the officials of the Midwest Madness Tour that it won’t be able to host the June 27th event.

“We are disappointed in this entire situation, but the safety of the township needs to come first, which is why we requested the township to close the road for a mere 4 hours on our race nights. Unfortunately, there was opposition to the closure. However, without insurance we cannot race, and they won't allow it without the temporary road closure,” stated track owner Adam Adamson. “They were able to close it for the sprint car shows, but stated they can only review on a case by case basis. We hope they will review the remaining 5 nights of racing as special cases and will allow us to close the road and race. We appreciate the hard work of the township officials and hope they can work with us to resolve this in time for races like the Dirt Knights and the Iron Cup.” Track officials hope the township board will review the decision at their upcoming meeting and allow the track to host its races in July and August and encourage fans and teams to attend the meeting to share their desire to race.
