Tim Dann takes cash in 4th Mark Lloyd Memorial at Park Jefferson

The 4th annual Mark Lloyd Memorial is in the books and it was an exciting night of racing that saw Tim Dann pick up a huge check in excess of $1,000 with over two thousand being raised by the Lloyd family. Joining him were Jesse Sobbing, Colin Smith, Elijah Zevenbergen, Cody Thompson, John Cain and Connor Brown.
Tim Dann was able to roar from deep in the field to come from back in the pack to win. The outset saw fierce competition between the 15 car field with last years winner Travis Schreurs running up front. A handful of engine failures accompanied yellow flags and allowed Dann to take the final checkers.
Jesse Sobbing, a former USMTS competitor and regional IMCA champions, dropped into Park Jefferson and came from the 10th starting position to pick up a win over a stout field of 19 Artworks Graphics Modifieds. An early yellow flag for a strange incident involving Ricky Stephan and Shawn Bearce under caution caused the field to bunch up and negate the strong runs by Jim Thies and Sean Barragan. Sobbing utilized the top shelf to take the lead late in the race from 10th over Barragan and Chris Abelson. Heats went to Sobbing and Abelson.
The Stevenson Hardware RACESaver Sprint Cars saw a raised purse of $750 going to the winner along with a generous $200 donation from A&B Auto of Harrisburg. It was Colin Smith who picked up all the money as he swept from 6th place to beat a strong run from Daniel Nekolite and Jesse Lindberg. Heats went to Smith and Lindberg.
Elijah Zevenbergen took home another checker flag in the J&J Fitting Stock Cars. Zevenbergen, who has led the track in season victories 3 of the past 5 seasons, was able to take advantage of the second place starting spot to win over Todd Gereau and Greg Taylor. Heats went to Zevenbergen and Gereau.
In the Sport Modifieds, Cody Thompson again found his way into victory lane as he swept to victory. Thompson, who had already picked up a $1,000 sport mod special, was unstoppable. Jeff Brunssen and Rusty Montagne rounded out the top three.
The IMCA Hobby Stocks are consistently putting on one of the most exciting nights of racing at Park Jefferson. Saturday night was no different as no less than 6 different drivers led the top spot. Kent Husted and Craig Clift were able to work quickly to the front and pull away from the field, but it was John Cain who brought the crowd to their feet. Using the top shelf, he roared around both late in the feature to pick up the win. Kevin Bruck then snuck by for second and Husted was a popular third after the early season rollover.
The IMCA Sport compacts saw Conner Brown again jump out to the lead in the Fox 620 IMCA Sport Compacts. It was a lead he would never relinquish as Brown was quick to lead and even quicker to put the field away. Brown won over Danny Vanderveen and Jared Gross.

Park Jefferson returns to action this Saturday night for another night of IMCA point racing. Gates open at 4:30 for the pits, 5:00 for grandstands with hot laps at 6:15 and racing to follow. Adults are $13, Seniors 65+ are $10 and children 6-16 are $3 with under 6 being free. For more information go to www.parkjeff.com.
