Open Wheel Mayhem with USMTS, Ne 360s vs MSTS and Iron Man

The United States Modified Touring Series invades the Park Jefferson Speedway this Saturday night for the River City Rumble. Joining them on the marquee will be the Nebraska 360 Sprint Cars vs the Midwest Sprint Touring Series. The undercard will see the USRA Iron Man events hosted for the Stock Car and B Mod divisions in a true grudge match as visiting drivers will take on the best of Sioux City.

The USMTS will be head by the Oklahoman, Jason Hughes who currently sits atop the point standings for the USMTS Casey’s sponsored Hunt. Hughes battled back to retake the lead from New Mexico’s Stormy Scott. There are a number drivers from the upper Midwest challenging for the top spot, led by Zack VanderBeek. Vanderbeek sits in 3rd position after a very successful spring campaign. Drivers RC Whitwell, Ricky Thornton and Jake O’Neil are all drivers with multiple starts at Park Jefferson from late model and modified competition. One of the sleepers this year is “The Reaper” Ryan Gustin. Gustin has been driving a team car to point leader Jason Hughes and is expected to challenge all drivers for top honors. Many local teams are considering coming out to race and Park Jefferson Speedway. A $100 bonus will be on the line for the top finishing Park Jefferson modified driver who is in the top 10 in points.

The Nebraska 360 Sprint Cars will take on the Midwest Sprint Touring Series for the 3rd round this Saturday night. Cody Ledger, who has been borderline dominant at the Park this season currently sits 3rd in point standings for the Nebraska 360’s. Ledger, who swept to victory with a last lap pass on July 15th, will be looking to chase down Ryan Roberts and Seth Brahmer. The MSTS will be headed by current track point leader Ryan Bickett. Bickett, who finally found his groove at Park Jefferson, holds a point lead over Jody Rosenboom and Sioux Falls driver Dylan Peterson.

The undercard could also prove to be very exciting, as the USRA Iron Man Series invades Park Jefferson for the first time courtesy of the great people at B&B Salvage. Drivers from across the upper Midwest will come to challenge many of the top local teams. It will be an interesting mix of drivers who compete. Elijah Zevenbergen, who was the track point leader for the first half of the season, will be a driver that is viewed as a favorite in the B&B Salvage Stock Car event. In the B Modifieds, locals Todd Boulware and Karl Brewer put a spanking on many of the USRA drivers 2 years ago in a non-sanctioned event run by USRA rules, and are easily the favorites, however any number of drivers could be on hand for the event.

Gates open at 4pm this week. Adult tickets will be $25, Seniors 70+ are $20 and Children 6-16 are $12. Under 6 are free. Pit passes for the event are $35. There is currently a online ticket purchase courtesy of B&B Salvage which has adult tickets for $19.99, seniors $14.99 and Children for $6.99, limited to the first 100 ticket buyers. The Budweiser clubhouse will be open and a wristband can be purchased for $12 at the souvenir stand which is in addition to any pit pass or front gate ticket.
