1st Mark Lloyd Memorial Thursday, June 25th
Join us on June 25 for the first annual Mark Lloyd memorial. This special event will present 3 classes of cars that Mark enjoyed watching. Featuring the Corn Belt Clash vs. MARS DIRTcar Super Late Models, they will be joined by the sport modifieds and stock cars. In order to allow all cars to participate from the Sioux Falls area, Park Jefferson will allow drivers that follow IMCA, USRA or WISSOTA rules packages to be able to compete that night at Park Jefferson. “Many drivers from Brandon and surrounding areas have asked to be able to participate in this event and the management felt this was the best way to allow this to happen.” stated general manager Greg Golden. Marks favorite number was always 23, so both the sport mods and the stock cars will run 23 laps in honor of the event. In addition, a special purse paying out $500 to win for both the stock cars and sport mods will be presented.
In January this past year, Park Jefferson lost one of its key contributors of the race tracks rebirth when Mark Lloyd passed away. Mark was instrumental in bringing the racetrack back after previous years of being closed. Mark and the Lloyd family, along with son Austin who was interning at the track, were key contributors from selling tickets to prepping the racetrack. Through it all Mark brought his happy smile and wave to the track. We present this event to honor a great family man and his contributions to racing.
The event will be sponsored by Billion Automotive Group, which was Mark’s employer. The Billion Automotive Group, which has both the Billiion Auto Kia and Billion Auto GMC Cadillac in Sioux City, has been a longtime supporter of local racing. Billon was responsible for providing a pace vehicle last season for Park Jefferson and is honored to be a sponsor of the Mark Lloyd Memorial race. Tickets will be available at $25 for adults, $12 for children 6-16 and 5 and under free. Pits will open at 4 pm with hot laps at 7:00 and racing at 7:30.
