Jefferson, SD-The Park Jefferson Speedway is pleased to announce the first annual Iron Cup presented by Ideal Wheels to take place September 12th & 13th at the newly reopened facility. The Cup will be the largest event hosted by the facility and will feature seven classes of cars. Following a format very similar to the recently cancelled Tiny Lund, the event will see drivers run heat races and pole dashes on Friday night, followed up by features and consolations on Saturday night.

Friday night will see A-Modifieds, Heartland Chiropractic Stock Cars, Sport Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts and Thunder Cars compete in heat races with the top 12 entering the night’s dash re-draw. All remaining cars will go to Saturday’s consolation. “With the cancellation of the Tiny Lund, we wanted to reward our racers and fans with a large season ending event. With $2,500 to win the A Modifieds and $1,000 to win for the Sport Mods and Hobby Stocks, we expect a fantastic field of cars” stated marketing director Austin Lloyd.

On Saturday night, the 6 classes of cars will return to the Speedway for consolation races to set the fields for the Iron Cup championship. A Modifieds will race for $2,500 to win, Stock Cars for $1,200 to win, Sport Modifieds and Hobby Stocks for $1,000 to win, Sport Compacts for $500 to win and Thunder Cars for $300 to win.

Joining the field on Saturday night will be the first return of Late Models to the famed black dirt of Union County. The Super Late Model Racing Association will bring their cars from around the area to compete in a top notch event.
