Murray County Speedway
August 11th Results from Murray County Speedway
Racing action returned to the Murray County Speedway this past Friday night. All of the usual IMCA classes as well as the pickups were on hand and the races were sponsored by Chander Coop-Croplan Genetics.
S&S Electric MCRA Pickups
Continued grow in the pickup class, had 8 trucks made the call for the 8 lap feature with Craig Gertsema leading the field to the green. On the start, Gertsema took the lead. Matt Odom quickly got to second and began to challenge. Scott Stirn and Jordan Rolling made it a 3 truck battle for the second spot. Rolling secured second and began to challenge for the lead. After some back and forth, Rolling was able to secure the race lead. Gertsema stayed close and tried to reclaim the lead. Jordan Rolling held on to take the feature win. Craig Gertsema finished second, Scott Stirn finished third, and Matt Odom finished fourth.
Plaid Moose Café IMCA Sport Compact
Ryan Westman lead the Sport Compacts to the green flag. On the start, Josh Uhl jumped out to the lead. Kent Miller made his way to second and began to challenge for the lead. After an early caution, Uhl kept the lead. Miller and Kaytee Devries challenged for the lead. Jason Wynia joined in the battle and was able to secure second and looked to challenge Uhl. Josh Uhl held on to win with Jason Wynia finishing second. However, both Uhl and Wynia did not pass tech and were disqualified. Due to this, Kaytee Devries was declared as the winner of the race. Kent Miller took home second, Ryan Westman took third, and Dylan Schrerier took fourth.
Legend Seeds Hobby Stocks
The fast action of the Hobby class, had 13 cars made the call for the 15 lap feature with Jeremy Johnson leading the field to the green. On the start, Johnson took the lead. Justin Bolluyt quickly began to challenge for the lead. Justin Luinenberg got around Bolluyt for second. After an early caution, Luinenberg took over the race lead. Bolluyt got back to second and looked to reel in Luinenberg. Eric Gillette and John Ross fought Bolluyt for second. Justin Luinenberg went on to take the win. Justin Bolluyt held on to second, Eric Gillette finished third, and John Ross finished fourth.
Sturdevant’s Auto Supply Sport Modifieds
The Sport Mod Feature had Tanner Gregoire leading the filed to green. On the start, Travis Vanden Top took the race lead. Behind him there was a 4 car battle for second. After an early caution, Vanden Top kept the race lead. Josh Meyer got to second and looked to challenge for the lead. Meyer was able to reel in Vanden Top and began to challenge for the race lead. Meyer was able to get around Vanden Top for the lead. Vanden Top stayed close and battled to take back the lead. Vanden Top was able to get around Meyer and take the feature win in a close finish. This was Vanden Top’s first feature win. Josh Meyer finished second, Jim Horejsi finished third, and Jeremy Van Ede finished fourth.
Car Toyz Stock Cars
The Stock Cars had only 6 cars made the call for the 18 lap feature with Gary Mattison leading the field to green. On the start, Mattison, Nick Johansen, and Jeff Larson battled for the lead. Larson was able to secure the race lead. After an early caution, Larson kept the lead. Jake Bruns took second and looked to reel in Larson. However, problems between Bruns and Mattison brought out the caution. Mattison was charged with the caution. On the restart, Larson kept the lead. However, contact between Bruns and Johansen brought out another caution. On the restart, Larson kept the lead and went on to take the feature win. Jake Bruns finished second, Nick Johansen finished third, and Mike Carlson finished fourth.
RH Sealcoating & Asphalt IMCA Modifieds.
Bruce Egeland led the field to the green. On the start, Tyler Limoges quickly made his way from the middle of the pack to the race lead. Limoges quickly pulled away from the field. Chris Palsrok made his way to second and looked to reel in Limoges. A caution helped Palsrok close the gap. On the restart, Limoges kept the lead. Dalton Magers began to challenge Palsrok for second. After a late caution, Limoges was able to maintain his lead over Palsrok and Magers. Magers secured second and looked to challenge. Tyler Limoges went on to take the feature win which was his 100th feature win, in a modified. Dalton Magers finished second, Chris Palsrok finished third, and Jeremy Smith was able to pass 2 cars in the final turn to take fourth.
Racing action will return next Friday night with all the same classes. It is fair night next week and the races will be sponsored by Pioneer Seeds. The Speedway will also be holding a two hour or 200 lap Enduro on Saturday August 19th.
