A New Start to the 2017 Season and the 25th Year of Racing at the Murray County Speedway

As the beginning of the 2017 season is now only two months away, the Board of Directors of the Speedway has made great strides to have a great season planned for the Speedway.

The Board of Directors for the 2017 season are: Aaron Betz-President, Doug Tuin-Vice President, Bruce Bertrand-Director, Penny Mattison-Director and Chad Muecke-Director. The Board has made big plans this off season, to bring the best, most enjoyable Friday night of racing to Southwest Minnesota. As the Speedway begins it's 25th Season, several special events have already been planned. The ever popular "Salute to Ag Night", brings our Agricultural Community to a large celebration of who we are. The Dominic Bruns Memorial Stock Car race, brings to our attention, how precious a life can be, at such a young age. The Murray County Fair always brings a festive atmosphere during the third week of August. For the first time in Speedway history, a "Fall Classic" race, is scheduled for October 7th.

Several of the new updates that will be seen at the Speedway are: The track's website has now been changed and designed by MyRacePass of Lincoln Nebraska. MyRacePass was formulated as a company in late 2014 and is now considered the "Social Network" of motorsports and "The Ultimate Racing Resource." MyRacePass brings all racing related content together and distributes it back through the network via tagged drivers, tracks, racing series/associations, and motorsports related businesses. MyRacePass specializes in Racer Website Development, Race Track Website Development, Race Series Website Development, Track and Series Race Management Systems, MyLaps Timing and Scoring Systems, Hero Cards, Event Posters/Flyers, Apparel, and just about anything else related to motorsports. Drivers, Track Promoters, Series Directors and Business Owners all have many options and tools to use through MyRacePass.

The next major update that the drivers and fans will see, is the computerized scorning done by transponders attached to the race cars. The Modifieds, Stock Cars, Sport Mods and Hobby Classes will start using this unique way of scoring each lap of a race. MyLaps Sport Timing will be used to score, as each car crosses an electronic loop that is buried into the finish line of the track. The MYLAPS X2 Transponder is the most widely used transponder in stock car, oval, GT, formula and rally racing. This transponder times each lap to the millisecond and determines the winner in even the closest of finishes. Anyone with a smartphone will be able to receive track notifications, race lineups, lap times, and race finishes, within seconds after a race is finish.

The Board of Directors finished up the sponsorship night phase of advertising. Special plans for the celebration of the 25th year of racing are currently being worked on. The Board will also be finishing up the payouts and the general track rules for the 2017 season. As these are updated, news releases will be made.
