Paul Nienhiser Third at Lincoln Speedway
PETERSEN MEDIA: Competing with MOWA on Friday night at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL, Paul Nienhiser would battle the likes of Rico Abreu and Dominic Scelzi before settling for a third-place finish.
“We put some new bars and shocks on our car for the weekend, and things went a lot better than they did our last time out,” Paul Nienhiser said. “We had some good speed and came away with a good finish.”
Lining up on the inside of the second row in his heat race, the Chapin, IL driver got a great start and jumped out to the lead. Checking out, Nienhiser would take the win and garner a position in the all-important redraw.
Drawing the one, Nienhiser lined the Cam2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design No. 9x machine up on the front row alongside Rico Abreu.
Dicing it up for the race lead in the early goings of the feature event, Nienhiser would settle into second as Abreu took command of the race and began to pull away.
A couple of restarts would put the leaders nose to tail, but Abreu would continue to flex his muscle and quickly build up a gap over Nienhiser. In open track Abreu would keep his pace, but in traffic, Nienhiser was able to close the gap.
Getting up to Abreu’s rear bumper, Nienhiser would make a mistake on the cushion with just five laps to go in the race and it would allow Dominic Scelzi to overtake him for the second position.
Hanging on to the final spot on the podium, Nienhiser was pleased with how his car felt as he capped the night off with a third place finish.
“It was a reassuring night after the last couple of weeks that I have had, and I think we are back on the right track,” Nienhiser said. “We will get back after it this weekend, and see if we can continue to head the direction.”
Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
