Inside Line Promotions – PHILO, Ill. (Sept. 23, 2019) – Kyle Schuett is looking forward to making his debut with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this Wednesday at Jacksonville Speedway.
“We’re pretty excited about racing with the Outlaws for the first time,” he said. “They’re definitely the best and I have the utmost respect for all of them. It’ll be a little nerve-wracking pitting beside and racing against the guys who I’ve watched as a fan.”
A new engine and car give the sprint car rookie guarded optimism going into the event at the oval in Jacksonville, Ill.
“We just dynoed our new motor last week and were very pleased with the results,” he said. “We’ll have a new car, too. Now it’s just a matter of putting everything together with the car and me driving my very best.
“It’s going to come down to qualifying. We’ll need a good draw to go out early because you need every advantage you can get when you run with those guys. We just hope to make two smooth qualifying laps and 10 good heat race laps and hope the rest falls into place.”
A top-15 finish in his debut with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions in June and previous experience at Jacksonville Speedway also give Schuett reason to look forward to Wednesday’s race.
“We did okay in our first race with the All Stars and they have a lot of good drivers, too,” he said. “And we have quite a few laps at Jacksonville, which is certainly much better than racing against the Outlaws at a track we’ve never been to. But it comes down to experience. We’ve only raced about 15 times in a sprint car while the Outlaws have raced over 60 times just this year.”
Schuett will focus on doing his best each lap when on track and he hopes variables fall in his favor.
“Ultimately, I’d like to make the feature,” he said. “But we expect a lot of cars there and we’ll need things to go in our favor for that to happen. We’ll be satisfied if we can run all our laps.”
