Nienhiser Hard Charges with IRA

PETERSEN MEDIA: Going to work in both a 305ci and 360ci winged car over the weekend, Paul Nienhiser would pick up a seventh place finish on Friday night at Jacksonville Speedway before a hard charge on Saturday night with the IRA at Beaver Dam.

“Friday night Jacksonville was really hooked up and that makes it tricky for a 305ci car,” Nienhiser said. “We struggled and really couldn’t do much. Saturday night in my 360ci, we had a good night going but a pre race issue forced us to forfeit a front row starting spot and come from the tail.”

On a very sticky and fast Jacksonville Speedway on Friday night, Nienhiser lined the Wankel No. 5 entry up in the second row of his heat race where he would pick up a third place finish.

Lining up sixth in the feature event, Nienhiser simply couldn’t get his machine to make grip no matter what he did. Trying to go anywhere on the track, Nienhiser was stalled out and was unable to mount a charge as he finished seventh and snapped his winning streak at the track.

Changing directions on Saturday night, the Chapin, IL driver returned to his PNR No. 9x machine to battle the IRA at Beaver Dam Raceway as he shook his mount down for this week’s Hockett Memorial.

Timing the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry in 12th fastest in time trials, Nienhiser would find himself on the front row of his heat race.

Needing to win to make the redraw, Nienhiser would do just that and find himself with the two pill, which placed him on the front row of the feature event.

Heading out for the feature event, a Flashlight was still attached to Nienhiser’ mount, and race control sent him to the work area for removal prior to the race going green.

Forced to tail to start the race, Nienhiser would have his work cut out for him. When the race came to life, Nienhiser almost immediately discovered a brake issue and ran nearly the entire race with no brakes.

Doing a great job from the tail, Nienhiser was able to work his way forward and cap his night with an 11thplace finish.

“It was surely disappointing to have to go to the tail end of the field and give up a front row starting position,” Nienhiser said. “We had a good car, and I think from the front row we could have contended for the win.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, Smith Titanium Products, Vortex Wings, Signature Signs and Design, and Team Simpson for their continued support.
