Inside Line Promotions – JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (May 31, 2017) – Brandon Hanks earned his first career top-five finish in 410ci winged sprint car competition last Friday during his debut at Jacksonville Speedway.

“It gives us a lot of momentum and it gives me some confidence, especially after we didn’t have the best outing the previous time out,” he said. “I really enjoy 410 racing and want to do more of it.”

The MOWA Series event began with Hanks qualifying ninth quickest. He then advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race, which locked him into the fourth starting position for the main event.

“Starting fourth and finishing fourth doesn’t tell the story,” he said. “The top eight cars were about the same. We were all back and forth a lot. I was third and would fall back to sixth or seventh and work my way back up. That place was a lot of fun. It had a great cushion. You could run the top and it came in on the bottom in the feature. You had plenty of room to race. You had all kinds of choices.”

Hanks battled for a top five throughout the event before ending fourth, which also marked his first top five of the season.

“We had a good car and I started figuring some things out later in the race,” he said. “I chased Zach Daum and A.J. Bruns down for second and third. I ran the top the first half of the race. About the time the bottom started coming in I ran down there. I went back to the top and started catching Zach and those guys in front of me and then the race ended on me. It was a lot of fun.”

Hanks was also slated to compete with the MOWA Series last Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., but the race rained out.
