Malpocker Dominates to D-II Victory
Jacksonville, IL – In POWRi Lucas Oil ILLINI D- II Midget Series competition, Andy Malpocker snagged the victory over Tyler Vantoll and Johnny Murdock at Jacksonville Speedway. At the drop of the green flag, Malpocker took command from pole sitter Chase McDermand and charged to the cushion of the high-banked quarter mile Jacksonville Speedway while the action took place behind him.
While the gaggle of cars jockeyed for position behind him, Malpocker’s smooth laps on the top side quickly placed distance between himself and the rest of the field while he worked to reel in lap traffic. In the final laps, Tyler Vantoll attained the second position while Johnny Murdock edged Mitchell Davis for the third position coming down to the wire. Broc Hunnell rounded out the top five.
“That was a tough break in the national car,” commented Andy Malpocker. “I felt bad for Felker. I got into a lap car and spun sideways and he got his front end knocked out. Tough break for those guys, but we finished that race and came out here and started on the front row. I’m just glad we survived some lap traffic tonight and finished the race. I want to dedicate this race to my sister. She was hit by a texting driver and has a long road of recovery ahead of her.”
