Fanopoulos, Palmer Duel for Hasson At A Track 50

Meridian Speedway rememberd long-time Fire Crew member Mike Hasson on Saturday, August 7, as Zamp Night at the Races featured the Mike Hasson At a Track 50. The Idaho CDL Training Steet Stocks closed the night’s action with Hasson’s 50 lap memorial, while the Speed Tour Modifieds powered by Pit Stop USA, Project Filter Pro-4s, Firehouse Pub and Grill Bombers, and Trammel Construction Stingers battled for the night’s hardware.

Thirteen Idaho CDL Training Street Stocks rumbled to green for the Mike Hasson At a Track 50. Josh Fanopoulos proved best at navigating the heavy traffic and raced his Certified Services machine to the lead. Once up front Fanopoulos defended his lead from all comers until a late caution flag lined Andrew Palmer up to his inside for the restart.

The green flag waved and Palmer erupted off the line in a desperate bid to put his Bobby’s Transmission, Freedom Payments machine in the lead. But Fanopoulos kept his momentum up in the high lane and at the white flag had the lead back for himself. Palmer kept pace with Fanopoulos over the last lap, but couldn’t find his way around the leader and was forced to settle for second, ahead of Taylor and Kendra Occhipinti, and Troy Evans.

Nine Speed Tour Modifieds powered by Pit Stop USA took the green flag on their forty lap Zamp Night at the Races feature. Donovan Barr was fastest to work his way to the lead, and once there he piloted his IBEW 291, Sound Hound Stereo racer to the victory. Shelby Stroebel finished second with Zach Webster third, Josh Fanopoulos fourth, and Willey Dalton fifth.

Jordan Harris and Sam Harris battled wheel to wheel for the Project Filter Pro-4 feature victory. Jordan Harris piloted his Allan Marsh Travel Center, Kim’s Kars mount to the top of the Pepsi-Cola scoreboard early, then held off a series of late race challenges from Sam Harris to take the checkers.

The Trammel Construction Stingers turned in the closest finish of the year Saturday as Makayla Trafford crossed the Caleb’s Chop Shop Victory Stripe just 46 one-thousandths of a second ahead of Ryat Gorringe. Alannah Trammel came home third ahead of Michael Bess and Kalli Weller.

When the checkered flag flew over a wild and wacky Firehouse Pub and Grill Bomber dash Cody Carsner stood victorious beside his battered machine. Laura Harrell came home second ahead of Keith Gonzales, Corbin Black, and Trevor Wells.
