Neuman, Babb triumph at Macon Speedway

By POWRi (Macon, IL) -- Aiming for redemption after he lost last year’s trip to Macon Speedway in a nail-biting finish, Jake Neuman of New Berlin, Ill. found exactly what he was looking for on Saturday night. Leading the final 26 laps, Neuman drove the Jim Neuman Racing, BRANDT, BOSS/SR-11 No. 3N to an impressive fourth-career win with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League.

Earning PAC Racing Springs High Point Man honors with a fourth-to-first heat win, Daniel Adler of St. Louis, Mo. had the privilege to lead the 23-car field to the green flag. After pacing the opening four laps, his No. 50 went to the wayside as Neuman slid his way into command.

From there, Neuman was large and in charge as the field behind him continued to jockey for position on the tight 1/5th-mile bullring. Tyler Thomas, who picked up Friday’s win at Belle-Clair Speedway, was patient in the early running before he mounted a late charge and drove by Adler for the second spot with ten laps left.

However, Thomas nor 22 other competitors could prevent Jake Neuman from tasting that sweet redemption at Macon Speedway on Saturday night. Leading the final 26 laps and parking the No. 3N in victory lane, Neuman’s triumph marked the fourth of his POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget League career and is his second win in the last five races.

Chasing Neuman to the checkered flag at Macon was Tyler Thomas with a solid second-place effort in the BT Machine, Spike/Toyota No. 91T. Daniel Adler rounded out the podium with an impressive third-place result for his No. 50 machine. Closing out the top five was Jesse Colwell and Daison Pursley of the Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports squad.

Also finishing inside the top ten was hard-charging Terry Babb in sixth-from-19th, Zach Daum in seventh, Karter Sarff in eighth, Daniel Robinson in ninth and Shelby Bosie in tenth.

The POWRi Lucas Oil National Midgets will be back on track next weekend with one of the most anticipated events of the season. Running alongside the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars, the POWRi National / West Midgets will be competing on Friday and Saturday, August 2-3 at the Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.

TERRY BABB HEADLINES MOWA AT MACON SPEEDWAY

By Brendon Bauman (Macon, IL) -- Terry Babb emerged from the cockpit of his #47 Samonds Racing machine wearing a “fifth-mile smile” after 25 laps around Macon Speedway, where he dominated Saturday night.

Babb took advantage of his second place starting spot and jumped to the early lead over polesitter Andy Bishop. He constantly was able to fight back against challenges from other competitors, as well as multiple red and yellow-flag conditions which slowed the field.

It was quite the battle behind the two frontrunners, as Zach Daum, Chad Boespflug and Paul Nienhiser raced for position within the top five. Boespflug, who is normally found running non wing sprint cars in Indiana managed to record a solid fourth place finish.

It seemed as if the eyes of all fans were locked in on Nienhiser, who started 19th in the A-Main and rallied to a fifth-place finish.

Babb’s victory at Macon was his first of 2019. “We just ran really well tonight. I was able to be in the right position when it counted most”, said Babb in Victory Lane.
