Pair Of Memorial Day Weekend Races On Tap For Macon Speedway

Monster Truck, Bike Giveaway, Super Late Models & More

(Macon, IL) The tradition continues this coming weekend at Macon Speedway with two races scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend.  Saturday, May 27, is Bob Brady Night featuring the Raminator Monster Truck crushing cars, the Mega Bike Giveaway, and six divisions of racing action.  Wrapping up the holiday weekend will be the Monday, May 29 special featuring the return of the UMP Super Late Models for the Big Ten Series with the Miller Lite Twin 50's.  For families throughout Central Illinois, the fun will be non-stop at Mighty Macon.

The annual trip by the Raminator Monster Truck, as always will be presented by Bob Brady Auto Mall.  On display at the entrance to the track for most of the afternoon photo opportunities, the truck will make its way onto the 1/5-mile oval to put on a car-crushing display that will put smiles on the faces of youngsters in the stands.  The truck will also be on display at the Bob Brady Auto Mall lot on Saturday from 11-2, performing another car crush.

Saturday's action will also feature the Bob Brady Auto Mall Mega Bike Giveaway, with nearly 40 bikes already donated to give away.  On track racing will include the UMP Pro Late Models, Billingsley Elite Wash Modifieds, B-Mods, Sportsman, Midwest Big Ten Street Stocks, and Hornets.

Then on Monday, May 29, the UMP Super Late Models will be making their first visit of the season, as the Midwest Big Ten Series is part of the Miller Lite Twin 50's.  Running in the other 50-lap event will be the Billingsley Elite Wash UMP Modifieds.  In addition to the strong competitors that compete on a weekly basis, NASCAR's Ken Schrader and Kenny Wallace will be joining the field racing for the top prize.  UMP B-Mods, Street Stocks, Hornets, and the Beach House Micros are also on the schedule.

Heading into the doubleheader weekend, New Berlin, IL driver, Tommy Sheppard, Jr. leads the standings in the track's Pro Late Model division.  In the Billingsley Elite Wash Modifieds, it's a tight race between a father/son combo with the son, Austin Lynn, leading by two points over his father, Brian.  In the B-Mod class, last year's undefeated champion, Tim Hancock, of Mt. Olive, leads by just two points over Tom Riech.  The Sportsman class has seen Argenta, IL driver Danny Smith winning both races to hold the advantage.  Decatur, IL's Brian Dasenbrock is up by two markers on Shawn Ziemer in the Street Stock division.  Rounding things out in the weekly Macon classes, Decatur, IL's Dustin Reed is up six points on Lincoln, IL's Cook Crawford.

The Midwest Big Ten Super Late Model class, which is coming to town Monday, has had two races so far this season with solid fields at both.  At the Quincy Raceway opener on May 7, talented St. Charles, MO driver, Gordy Gundaker, claimed the victory over a field of 20+.  At the second event on May 12 at Belle-Clair Speedway, Michael Kloos, of Trenton, IL took the victory.  Kloos, with finishes of second and first, currently leads the Big Ten standings.  Lincoln Speedway and Highland Speedway events scheduled for last weekend were canceled due to rain.  No reschedule dates have been announced at this point.

Rounding out the divisions that will be in attendance this weekend will be the Beach House Micros.  The 600cc winged machines have run one race this season at the track, a POWRi sanctioned event on May 13.  This Monday's appearance will be unsanctioned but should draw a solid field of cars.

On Saturday, May 27, pits will open at 4:00, grandstands at 5:00, pill draw will end when the drivers meeting begins at 5:50, hotlaps will begin at 6:00, and racing will take the green at 7:00.  Grandstand admission is $12, while children 11 and under are free.

On Monday, May 29, times will be an hour earlier with pits at 3:00, stands at 4:00, pill draw ending with drivers meeting beginning at 4:50, hotlaps will begin at 5:00, and racing will see the green at 6:00.  Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults and free for kids 11 and under.
