Excitement At High Levels For Race Track Openings

Lincoln & Macon Speedways Set To Open Under Track Enterprise Banner

A pair of Central Illinois racetracks are ready to take the green flag on their 2016 seasons this coming weekend.  Under beautiful skies and with 70+ degree temperatures, Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, IL and Macon Speedway, in Macon, IL will be opening this coming weekend.  This year will mark the 13th season for Lincoln and the 71st for Mighty Macon.

                This year brings new promoters to Lincoln Speedway, as Track Enterprises takes the wheel under Bob Sargent, Drake Nelson, and Adam Mackey.  The trio also operate Macon Speedway, the Terre Haute Action track, and a large number of big events throughout the midwest that include ARCA, USAC, and other top series.  Macon Speedway features Tony Stewart, Kenny Wallace, and Ken Schrader as part owners in addition to Sargent.

The Friday, April 15, season opener at Lincoln Speedway will have a little bit of something for everyone.  For stock car fans, the Pro Late Models, Street Stocks, and Hornets will be on track.  For the open wheel fans, there will be Modifieds and the DII Nutech Seed Midgets.  And for the kids, Twinkles the Clown will be entertaining with balloon animals in addition to an inflatable bounce house on site.

On Saturday, April 16, Macon Speedway will open the gates for an unbelievable 71st season with Pro Late Models, Billingsley Towing Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Hornets.  The night will also feature an on track driver autograph session around 6:45 and CEFCU Kid's Club for the youngsters.  There will be the new Kid's Club t-shirts and goody bags with coloring books, etc in addition to a bounce house in the play area.

Things to watch this weekend include the Pro Late Model point bonus for the top three in cumulative points between the two tracks.  The top three after the two races will split a $600 point fund of $300, $200, and $100.  The Pro Late Models will also have two laps of single car qualifying at both events, which is a first time occurrence at Lincoln, where a new track record will be set.

Both race track will feature very affordable family fun as admission is just $12 for adults and kids 11 and under are free.  Pit gates will open at 4:00, with grandstands at 5:00, pill draws end at 6:00, and racing will take the green around 7:00.
