TRACK CHAMPIONS NIGHT AND ILLINOIS LIGHTNING SPRINT SERIES AT MACON SPEEDWAY, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

MACON SPEEDWAY TO CROWN TRACK CHAMPIONS THIS WEEKEND, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 PLUS A FIRST-TIME APPEARANCE FOR THE ILLINOIS LIGHTNING SPRINT SERIES

(Macon, IL) At the beginning of the season, many drivers hoped for a chance to be a champion. At the end of the season, only one driver per division will receive that honor. This weekend, the Billingsley Towing UMP Modifieds, UMP Sportsman, UMP Street Stocks, UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornets and Stock Hornets will determine who will come out on top with the title in each division.

In the Billingsley Towing UMP Modified division, Guy Taylor of Springfield has had a consistent season running in the top five for most of it. Taylor is going into the championship race in first place, followed by Danny Smith of Argenta; Jeff Graham of Stonington; Clark Robertson of Shelbyville and Joe Strawkas of Buffalo rounding out the top five.In the UMP Sportsman division, David Crawley, Jr. has been a regular in the top five throughout 2013. He is ahead of Nick Macklin of Argenta by a slim margin, rounded out by Mike Pickering of Decatur; Jeremy Nichols of Shelbyville and Scott Landers of Taylorville.

UMP Street Stocks champion seems to be secured by Gene Reed of Blue Mound. Reed has a healthy lead in the division followed by Bobby Beiler of Blue Mound, Kyle Walters of Oreana, Brian Dasenbrock of Decatur, and Thomas Riech of Springfield.

Adam Webb of Decatur also seems to have the UMP 4-cyl. Outlaw Hornet division wrapped up. Webb is ahead of Jeremy Reed of Decatur, Dillon Justice of Harristown, Vernon Carlow of Springfield and Fred Reed, Jr. of Decatur round out the top five.

The Stock Hornets are the closest division this season. Thad Gee of Bloomington and Mike McChristy of Mt. Zion have been trading places at the top since May. Going into this weekend, Mike McChristy holds the lead by only a few points. Austin Harbin of Argenta follows closely behind, followed by Theran Reno of Springfield and William Deavers of Bloomington.
