Sprint Invaders Cross Into Lee County on Wednesday!
(Bill W) June 6, 2010 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will return to a track they have frequented the most on Wednesday, June 9 when they will entertain fans at the “Bud Bash” at Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, Iowa. The always entertaining 3/8 mile oval will play host to the Sprint Invaders for the 30th time in series’ history.
A doubleheader over Memorial Day weekend shook up the point standings considerably. Though Jerrod Hull still leads the standings, Matt Sutton has pulled within three points based on a pair of strong showings at CJ Speedway and 34 Raceway. Sutton has three wins in Sprint Invaders events at Lee County Speedway, and hopes to take one more step in the season point race.
Two-time champion, “Flyin’” Ryan Jamison, is only eight markers back in third. Jim Moughan Jr. and Joe Beaver complete the top five in the standings. CJ Houseman, who won at CJ Speedway on May 28, Donnie Steward, “Showtime” Kaley Gharst, Ben Wagoner and “Lil’” Dude Bobby Mincer complete the top ten in points.
Five drivers have won three times in Sprint Invaders competition at Lee County. Terry McCarl, Jeff Mitrisin, Sutton, Gharst and John Schulz have all won three times, while Bobby Hawks and Jesse Giannetto won on two occasions. Other wins have come from Jeff Nehring, Billy Alley, Skip Jackson, Jake Peters, Hull, Randy Martin, Rager Phillips, Josh Higday, Larry Pinegar II and Mincer.
The “Bud Bash” has been popular for several years at Lee County Speedway and features a party in the pits following the races. In addition, the first 101 kids entering the races will receive a FREE small Mountain Dew and popcorn courtesy of Pepsi, Lee County Speedway and the Sprint Invaders.
Also on the card will be Modifieds ($600 to win) and Hobby Stocks ($300 to win). Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with hot laps slated for 7:00 p.m. and racing to follow! For more information, log on to www.LeeCountySpeedway.com!
