The Championship Battle Heats up this Weekend at Lebanon I-44 Speedway
This Saturday, July 27th, Lebanon I-44 Speedway is gearing up for yet another exciting night of racing! All five weekly racing divisions will be on hand, including a power-wheels race for kids 12 to 4 years old! Included in all of the exciting races, the Hornet division will be racing on the all new Roval course! The Roval course is a combination of the big 3/8-mile track and the inner 1/5-mile track to create a one of a kind road course! Our drivers are used to making strictly left turns, so this track will throw a wrench into the already tight points battle in our Hornet division. We would like to thank Layla’s Fine Jewelry and Clayton Homes for sponsoring this action-packed night of racing!
Our entry level division, the 4-cylinder Hornets, put on one of the best races we have seen this year just one race ago in the Blue Collar Dirty 30. Dustin Atkinson came away with the win that night, but right now in the Championship chase, the Albright brothers are leading the way. Chris Albright currently holds just a one-point lead over his older brother Jeffery. Although, this weekend’s race on the Roval will be a totally different style of racing which may shake up the points standings. Mason Mundy is fresh off a win at the Historic Bolivar Speedway and is currently only 8 points down in third place in the championship standings. He is looking to use the Roval to his advantage and leapfrog the Albright Brothers in the Championship. In the Street Stock class, Trevor Icenhower and Matt Pilant have each won two features this year, but Icenhower holds a 6-point lead over Pilant. Will Matt Pilant answer back and be the first to get win number three over Icenhower or will we see a new winner in Victory Lane on Saturday night? The Big 10 Late Model division is in its second season and has yet to disappoint. There have been four winners in four races so far this season. Jimmy Fohn holds a four-point lead over Justin Blake, and an 11-point lead over Ken Dickinson coming into the weekend. Dylan Bates made his first appearance of 2019 in the Big 10 Late Model division on July 3rd and came away with the win. All four of the drivers mentioned are looking to be the first to be a repeat winner. Will we finally see a repeat winner, or will a fifth driver find their way to the winner’s circle? Brian Brown finally got the monkey off his back on July 3rd picking up his first Modified win of 2019 after mechanical gremlins riddled the early parts of the year for him. This win propelled Brown into second place in the Championship behind Richard Lewis. Richard Lewis will be looking for win number three of 2019 this weekend, but it won’t come easy as Ricky Icenhower and Brian Brown are looking for their second wins of the season and Michael Juergenson is getting very close to grabbing his first Modified win of 2019. This class will definitely be one to watch this coming weekend! Finally, the Pro Late Models will be on track Saturday night for a 30-lap feature. This will be the first non-Ozark’s Asphalt Late Model Series race of the year, so we will see a new winner in Victory Lane this weekend as Tony Jackson Jr. and Cole Williams will not be in attendance. The next race for them will be September 28th. But this weekend, drivers like Terry Limberopolous, Jimmy Vanzandt, Tim Swearengin, and Brennon Willard have been running up front a lot lately and are hoping that the shorter feature plays right into their hands. This race will be like a sprint compared to the races they have been running this year. This will not be a race you want to miss!
The gates will open on Saturday night at 5:00PM with hot laps starting shortly after. Racing will begin at 7:30PM. Grandstand tickets are just $12 for adults and Tier Parking is $15 as well as discounted tickets for Veterans, seniors, and juniors. As always, kids 12 and under are free! Don’t forget that kids between the ages of 12 and 4 can bring their power wheels and enter the race at intermission. You will need a helmet. Classes will be divided by age groups. For more information on the power wheels race please contact us through Facebook. Visit our website at i44speedway.net for any other information you may need, hope to see all of you at the High-Banks THIS Saturday night!
