Inside Line Promotions – DE SOTO, Kan. (Sept. 23, 2016) – Mandy Chick is a rising star in the motor sports scene in the Midwest, where the third-generation driver just capped a stout season by earning the Missouri State Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
The 14-year-old finished sixth in the championship standings at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, which is a 3/8-mile, high-banked paved oval located in Lebanon, Mo., and she ranked ninth in the state standings.
“It was such an honor to grow as a race car driver over the season,” Chick said. “I got to race against really tough competition, which made me a better driver.”
Chick earned four top fives, including a career-best runner-up result, along with 12 top 10s during her first season in the division.
“Mandy is a great example of what Lebanon I-44 Speedway and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series stand for,” Lebanon I-44 Speedway General Manager Kevin Greven said. “She comes from a family of great integrity and character and carries that over to the track every Saturday night. She is the perfect ambassador for any brand and we are proud to have her representing ours.”
Not only has Chick been successful on the track this season, she’s also taken the lead in community affairs. When the season finale at Lebanon I-44 Speedway rained out last Saturday Chick and her team visited a local hospital with the race car.
She’s also about to embark upon a bullying prevention tour with the first date set for Oct. 1.
Additionally, the team is preparing to step up in 2017 and tackle the JEGS CRA All-Stars Tour. Chick will continue to compete in various events at Lebanon I-44 Speedway with the possibility of returning to dirt on free nights next season as well.
“My Dad has been racing since 1963 and I was raised around racing since birth,” said Steve Chick Jr., who is Mandy’s father and the team owner. “We have had a lot of success together over the years, but nothing tops watching Mandy reach these great milestones. To think that in her first season Mandy would be contending for the win numerous times, among some of the toughest NASCAR Late Model drivers in the country, now that is excitement! Our family, our team, our friends and certainly Jennifer (Mandy’s mother) and I are all very proud of Mandy. The only thing more exciting than winning the 2016 NASCAR Missouri State Rookie Title is the anticipation of what the future holds for Mandy.”
Additional information about the 2017 season will be released in the near future.
