110 Sprints Take An Attempt At The Big Payouts At The Bill Gardner Sprintacular Weekend At LPS
It was an amazing weekend at LPS for the Bill Gardner Sprintacular. With 58 sprints Friday and 52 sprints on Saturday we would like to thank all of the teams and fans that came out for an amazing 2 nights at LPS. We would also like to thank the Gardner and Robinson family for putting on such a special event in honor of a very special person. The first night the MSCS format had 58 entries which the word Loaded just doesn’t cover it so let’s call it a Super Loaded field. Ryan Thomas ripped a 12.439 to set quick time for the night. 6 heat races started the night. The winners of the heats were Chase Stockon, CJ Leary, Brayden Fox, Kevin Thomas Jr., Robert Ballou and Brady Bacon. The D main winner was Seth Parker, C main winner was Geoff Ensign and B main winner was Mitchell Moles. To explain how loaded these 3 races were the LPS points leader won the C main and in the B main we had a lineup that could be an A main lineup on any given night at any of the Indiana tracks. In the feature most of the race Robert Ballow was leading but sure enough the tall cushion came into play. CJ Leary would get the cushion rolling very good and took over the lead from Robert and went on for the big win over Brady Bacon, Kyle Cummins, Chase Stockon and Shane Cottle. On the final corner Robert Ballou hit the infield tire and took KT jr. with him also ending their night not crossing finish line and finishing in the back.
On to Night 2 with 52 cars. This was the 10 grand to win night using the USAC format. Chase Stockon was the last car out for quals and ripped a 12.944 to get the top spot. The 4 heats were won by Emerson Axsom, Jake Swanson, Dave Darland and Justin Grant. The C main was won by Evan Mosley and the B main was won by Logan Seavey. Once again the C and the B main were loaded with what looked to be A main events but only with shorter distances and the problem was you had to load it up if you were not in the top 6 of the B. This setup the A main worth 10 grand. CJ Leary would lead lap one and looked to make it 2 nights in a row. By lap 2 though Kyle Cummins took the lead. By lap 17 the Topp Motorsports #4 Justin Grant who started 8th would take the top spot away from Kyle and he would lead the rest of the 23 laps to get the top 10,000 dollar prize. Justin is also the Usac points leader and this might give him a lot of momentum going into Husets and then Indian Sprint Week. Following Justin at the finish was Emerson Axsom, Logan Seavey, Jason Mcdougal and Kyle Cummins. Once again thanks to all of the 110 entries for 2 nights to all the teams for putting on an awesome show for our awesome fans.
Friday night there were also 18 mods, 26 Super Stocks and 12 Bombers. Unfortunately those features were rained out until next Saturday and we will start with the mods on Lap 9 with Jake Leitzman leading with 11 to go. The Super Stocks and Bombers will also run double features on July 9th to make it a full card of events at LPS.
The 305 sprints on Saturday night brought 15 entries to LPS. Ivan Glotzbach and Carson Dillion would set fast times in each of their groups. The heat races were won by Bryce Norris and Ethan Barrow. This setup the A main with an invert of 2 so the heat race winners were on the front row. Ethan took the lead early but Bryce stayed on his tail tank for most of the 20 laps just waiting for a mistake by the #14 in the lead. Ethan didn’t make any mistakes and held on for the win over Bryce Norris, Rod Henning, John Paynter Jr. and Carson Dillion. Thanks to all of the 305 teams who always put on a great show.
The MMSA brought a great turnout of 30 entries. Fast time was Jeff Schindler. The 3 heat winners were Cody Knieriem, Brad Strunk and Brandon Deputy. Raymond Holden won the Swat Pest B main. The A main went to many time feature winner Brad Strunk over Mike Larrison, Kyla Roell, Brandon Deputy and Cody Knieriem. Thanks to all 30 teams from MMSA that came to put on an awesome show also at LPS. Wow what a 2 day show it was. Thanks to Joe and Jill Spiker for an awesome event and thanks to Shondra Gardner and the entire Gardner and Robinson family who honor Bill with what he loved best a big Sprint Car race at LPS. We will be back at the red clay on July 8th with 5 classes and then next Saturday at LPS we will start after qualifying with the 3 A mains from Friday night then start the regular show. LPS on Saturday will be an awesome show to see 7 features and the Little Feet Bicycle Challenge also. See you next Friday or Saturday or hopefully both days at Bloomington Speedway and Lincoln Park Speedway.
