New Management Takes Over at Mobile Speedway

Local business owner Eddie Shoemaker has taken over the Management of Mobile International Speedway (MIS). Shoemaker already operates US-90 Dragway, a companion facility to MIS, and is well known in the racing community, having been a Driver, Car Owner and Sponsor.

Shoemaker takes over for Gina Schild-Knowles who has operated MIS for the last two and half seasons. The two race dates slated for May did not take place after Schild-Knowles announced a management change was coming on May the 9th.
“Our first goal is to get our Racers back on the racetrack, everybody needs to buckle up!” said Shoemaker. “We are working with all the people it takes to make racing happen and we should have an announcement soon on when we will return racing and what our schedule will be for the rest of the 2023 Season.”
MIS opened in 1965 and for the first 35 seasons was owned and operated by Lee and Ida Fields. Since Fields passing, the Speedway has had 7 different operators now tapping Shoemaker for the lead role.

“Once we get the Fastest Fun Around back on the track we will start working on the infrastructure at the Speedway,” offered Shoemaker. “We will use the same approach we have at the Drag Strip, constantly improving the facility while we race, making it better for our competitors and our fans.”

In addition to operating US 90 Dragway and MIS, Shoemaker is the owner of MAECO Fabrication in Grand Bay, Alabama.
