(Kansas City, Kansas) Lakeside Speedway is gearing up to celebrate both Gary Dellinger and Gary Davis on Friday evening with the annual Gary D Stock Car Special. Both men were long-time race fans with close ties to Lakeside Speedway and each man has an area at the speedway named in his honor. This includes the Gary Dellinger Memorial Pit Building, where drivers check in to race and the Gary Davis Lineup Memorial Road, where the drivers line up and stage to race … hence the Gary D memorial.

Stock Car drivers will compete for additional purse money with the set payout at $1,500-to-win and $160-to-start. The full payout is as follows: 1) $1500, 2) $700, 3) $500, 4) $450, 5) $425, 6) $375, 7) $350, 8) $325, 9) $300, 10) $275, 11) $250, 12) $225, 13) $200, 14) $180, 15th to 24th $160. However, if there are 24-or-more cars checked in, General Manager Pete Howey said, “The track will add to the overall purse and the race will pay $1,750-to-win and a whopping $200-to-start with all finishing positions increased.”

Classes competing this Friday include Stock Cars, A-Mods, B-Mods, Pure Stocks, and Mod Lites. The Mod-Lites also have additional money on the line as their feature event will pay $500 to the winner. Grand Nationals and E-Mods have this week off from racing.

Fans may purchase tickets online through midnight on Thursday with a limited amount of tickets available at the gate on race night. Advanced tickets are available at MyRacePass.com under the Lakeside Speedway Profile by clicking here or by calling call 913-299-9206. Terrace Spots are available but must be reserved by calling the track in advance.

COVID-19 related social distancing is recommended and masks are required per Kansas Governor Laura Kelly, who signed an executive order on Monday requiring the wearing of masks in public. Patrons are also reminded that concessions are limited at this time due to national food shortages.

Lakeside Speedway will follow CDC Recommendations which may affect logistics and “normal” operating procedures. All attendees are responsible for their own personal protective equipment and decisions regarding attendance. Lakeside recommends when parking in the pits, to leave extra space between race cars and to not gather in groups or travel from pit stall to pit stall. Race teams are limited to 10 people per team, this is monitored at the Pit check-in building when signing in.
