Summer Thunder Series Returns to GHR this Saturday Night
Elma, WA - For the first time in 2016, the Summer Thunder Sprint Series returns to the 3/8 banked clay oval. This Saturday will be Race #4 on the season for the series. The opening double-header at the Yakima Dirt Track saw Burlington's Jason Solwold and Trey Starks of Puyallup start the season off in Victory Lane. Race three on the season saw Enumclaw driver Henry VanDam pick up the win at Skagit Speedway after many years of bad luck on the 3/10 clay oval in Alger, WA. This weekend will see a variety of talent including Solwold and VanDam, as well as Quilcene's JJ Hickle, Colton Heath of Marysville, multi-time track champion Jay Cole of Shelton, and many more drivers battle it out to see who will end up in Victory Lane.
Also on hand will be the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, and the Pacific Hard-Top Racing Association Dwarf Cars for their first appearance of 2016. Last time the Street Stocks hit the raceway, Jack Parshall of Hoquiam was the class act of a strong field of drivers, picking up his second win in a row over Hoquiam's Jason Tole, and Ocean Shore's Jeff Daniel. Parshall will try and go for three in a row this Saturday night.
Ryan Martinez of Portland, OR picked up the win on the last visit from the PHRA Dwarf Cars during the 2015 season, holding off Corey Estaban of Gaston, OR. With a strong field of drivers every time the series visits, it will surely be one action-packed night on the raceway. The PHRA Dwarf Cars will visit a total of three times during the 2016 season: this Saturday night, June 4th, July 29th-30th during the Shipwreck Beads Modified Nationals, and August 27th.
Gates will open this Saturday night at 5:30pm with racing starting at 7:00pm.
