Trenca Makes First Two World of Outlaws Main Events of His Season

Inside Line Promotions – NEW EGYPT, N.J. (May 26, 2016) – Joe Trenca advanced into his first two World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series main events of the season within the last week.
The Mucci Motorsports driver made the feature last Sunday at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y., during the Empire State Challenge as well as on Tuesday night at New Egypt Speedway.
“It’s nice to make the show, but I’m past the fact of being happy just making the show,” he said. “We need to work on some things. The Outlaws are always on top of their game. If you’re not you aren’t going to be able to beat them.”
The action began with Trenca qualifying 22nd quickest on Sunday at Weedsport Speedway. He then finished where he started – eighth – in a heat race before capturing a fifth-place result in the Last Chance Showdown, which earned a transfer into the back of the main event.
“We made the main, but we missed the setup in the feature,” he said. “We were way off and that was probably the worst track I’ve seen this year. It was hard to do anything, especially starting at the back. We just need to get the car to do what we want when it gets real slick.”
Trenca pulled off the track on Lap 16 and he was credited with a 23rd-place result.
His qualifying effort improved on Tuesday at New Egypt Speedway, where Trenca timed in 17th quickest. He placed seventh in a heat race and second in the Last Chance Showdown to start the main event on the outside of the 11th row.
“We started at the back and there wasn’t a lot of passing,” he said after finishing 23rd. “We didn’t really go anywhere. We have to qualify better at the start of the night to set ourselves up for the main event.”
Trenca is set to make his debut at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., this Friday with the World of Outlaws for the Circle K/NOS Energy Drink Outlaw Showdown.
“I’m excited to go down there,” he said. “It looks like a cool place to go and with it being NASCAR weekend in Charlotte there should be a lot of fans there. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Last Saturday’s Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints event at Selinsgrove Speedway in Selinsgrove, Pa., rained out.
