Lebanon, Oregon- The Northwest Dwarf Cars held their final points event of the 2019 campaign. Willamette Speedway hosted the last leg of the season and was the second race at the venue during the year. Eighteen cars made the journey to the historic 1/3-mile clay oval.
Jake Tupper managed to beat the entire competition to the finish line at the drop of the checkered flag. The St. Helens chauffeur hoisted his second feature event victory of the year and his first triumph since August 3rd at Skagit Speedway. Jake Van Ortwick, of Scappoose, was behind Tupper, in second, while hometown racer Danny Altom, from Lebanon, ended his night in third. Sandy’s Justin DeMars placed fourth while Jimmy Brinster, also of St. Helens, got fifth.
Portland ace Ryan Martinez was quickest in time trials. Jake Tupper bested the field in the trophy dash while heat race wins went to Tupper, Martinez, and Jake Van Ortwick. Once all of the points were tallied all together, Jake Van Ortwick was declared the club champion. It is the first time he has won the points title.
The Northwest Dwarf Cars will venture to Coos Bay Speedway on Saturday, September 28th for a non-point affair to close out the year. The Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Association will join them at the “Clay By The Bay Of The West.” For more information, log on to www.coosbayspeedway.us.
