Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway was able to beat out some soggy weather to complete their Saturday, September 7th race program. The evening featured four divisions on the card at the historical 1/3-mile clay oval. Those classes included the Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.
Steve Moore conquered the Super Sports once more. Piloting B.J. Donofrio’s car the Scio veteran lapped the entire field and was below the track record in the main event. Moore now has two wins in the class. Scotts Mills pilot Vahn Stone was credited with second-place with Mike Robbins, of Jefferson, behind him in third. Randy Barley, from Albany, put in an effort to end his night in fourth over Larry Rametes, of Dayton, grabbing fifth.
Lebanon’s James Slover took care of business in the forty-lap Sportsman main event. It was the first time Slover has won in the division this year. Albany veteran Rod McCombs got second with Steve Pieffer, of Corvallis, finished third. Tom Yeack, from Crawfordsville, came across the stripe in fourth with fifth placing going to Salem native Andrew Wright.
Rod McCombs, pulling double duty, captured his first winner’s check of the year in 2019. “Hot Rod” put a thumping on the rest of the field and was the only car to finish on the lead lap. Jimmy Midkiff, of Madras, was the runner-up while Lebanon’s Kyndall Irvine got third. Trevor Points, from Salem, placed fourth over fifth finishing Marcola racer Roger Bell.
