Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway hosted some great racing on Saturday, August 10th. The 1/3-mile clay oval had six classes in the pit area with some new faces finally snapping their winless streaks. Divisions on the card included Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.
Lebanon teenager McLain Beaudoin finally parked his mount in victory lane for his first triumph of the current campaign. Thomas Hunziker, of Bend, posted a second-place result over third finishing Rob Campos, from Scio. Salem’s B.J. Donofrio was an impressive fourth while John Dees, now a resident of Canby, got fifth.
Bricen James took care of business in the IMCA Modified ranks. The Albany gasser now has acquired seven feature event winner’s checks and trophies at Willamette this season. Keizer veteran John Campos crossed the wire in second while Grey Ferrando, of Stayton, placed third. Albany chauffeur Dustin Cady, in his twin brother Justin’s car, was fourth while Jefferson’s Loren Kruesi rounded out the top five, in fifth.
Despite being absent from victory lane the last couple of weeks, B.J. Donofrio managed to make a triumphant return in the Super Sports. Pulling double duty on the night, Donofrio now has an impressive eight wins to his credit this year. Vahn Stone, of Scotts Mills, finished second with veteran Robert Mercer, in third. Steve Fuller, from Salem, posted a fourth-place result with Jefferson’s Mike Robbins rounding up the high five finishers, in fifth.
In the Sportsman division, Millersburg racer Stacy Kreger bested the field for the first time. Lebanon’s Jeff Rash hit the wire second with Kent Emry, of Coburg, in third. Jeff Davis ended the night in fourth while longtime Lebanon racer Glenn Hackney was fifth.
North Bend driver Ken Fox became the most recent victor in the Street Stock classification. Lebanon’s Kyndal Irvine was a respectable second over third finishing Tony Brakeall, also of Lebanon. Kevin Scofield put in a fourth-place effort with Junction City’s Troy Chamberlain getting the fifth spot.
Lastly, in the Hornet ranks Eddie Farness made a valiant return to the winner’s circle. The Sandy based driver now has a total of eleven victories in the division. Newport racer Matt Diller got second over third place Cailyn Farness, of Sandy. Jimmy Midkiff, from Madras, placed fourth with fifth going to Coburg’s Austin Emry.
Willamette Speedway is expected to be back in action on Wednesday, August 14th with the return of the Interstate Sprint Car Series and Dwarf Cars.
