Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway returned on Saturday, June 8th, for a rare single race weekend. The historic 1/3-mile clay oval hosted the annual Clay Cup event and the night produced some wonderful racing action. Classes in competition included the Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Hornets.
Corbett’s Collen Winebarger filled in for Joey Tanner in the Super Late Model division. Winebarger put Tanner’s mount in victory lane for the sixth time and the first occasion Collen has won in the class this year. Keizer veteran John Campos got the job done in the IMCA Modifieds for his first trip to the winner’s circle at Willamette this year. Tom Yeack, of Crawfordsville, scored his fourth triumph of 2019 in the Sportsman feature.
Albany youngster McKenzie Lockhart became the most recent winner in the Street Stock ranks for her first victory this season. Lastly, Eddie Farness, from Sandy, once again defeated the Hornet competition to pick up his fourth win this year.
Willamette Speedway has an incredible three-night offering of racing this weekend. It all starts on Friday, June 14th, for another Fast Friday. Classes on the card include Karts, Street Stocks, and Hornets. Saturday, the 15th, will have the Interstate Sprint Car Series and Dwarf Cars back in town along with the Northwest Focus Midget Series and Street Stocks.
Finally, the annual Father’s Day Tuff Truck event will cap the weekend off on Sunday, the 16th, additionally featuring Trash Cars and the Valley Wide UTV Shootout Series.
