Lebanon, Oregon- Willamette Speedway held two big events on Saturday, August 18th, as both the IMCA Modifieds and Hornets headlined the night. The Modifieds were in their second night of the Big Sky Landscaping Modified Nationals while the Hornets were on tap for the Great American Hornet Challenge presented by AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care of Corvallis, Newport, and Lebanon. Also, in action were IMCA Sport Mods, Super Sports, and Street Stocks.

Collen Winebarger went on to win his first career Big Sky Landscaping Modified Nationals victory. It is the sixth occasion that the Corbett driver has won at Willamette Speedway in Modified competition in 2018. Daniel Ray, of Springfield, broke through for his first IMCA Sport Mod victory of the current campaign. Salem’s B.J. Donofrio returned to the winner’s circle after a brief hiatus to pick up his fifth Super Sport triumph of the season.

Albany teenager Brody Sim struck pay dirt for the first time this year in the Street Stocks as he added his name to the long list of main event winners. Lastly, Eric Ashley, out of Jasper and racing for car owner Randy Kuhl, tamed the massive Hornet field and became the third different winner in as many years for the Great American Hornet Challenge presented by AAMCO Transmissions and Total Car Care of Corvallis, Newport, and Lebanon.
