The first weekend of June has historically been one of the biggest weekends of racing at the famed Willamette Speedway. The Strawberry Cup is one of the races every driver sets their sights on and has marked their schedule as a race they will not miss. This year's edition is a one day event that will draw a large car count in the pits and crowd in the stands.

Willamette Speedway has a big tradition with the annual event and when one looks at the past winners it reads as a who's who of the best drivers in the Pacific Northwest. Dating back to legends like Granville "Granny" Earp, George Waters, Don Wilson, Norm Davis, and recent stars in the last couple of decades Tom Waggoner, Bob Boyd, Bob Jeffery, Darren Coffell, Russ Sell, Trevor Glaser, Jeremy Shank and defending track champion Rob Mayea.

Young rising stars like Justin Duty, Brian Cronk, Joey Tanner and Collen Winebarger are bringing their talents and aiming to shoot down the veterans this Saturday.

Stawberry Cup attracts the best of the best in the region and the level of competition rises immensely. "It's just one of those races that everyone wants to win" says "Slidewayz" Tony Brakeall. "We look at the schedule and it's one of, if not the first race we plan on. The first weekend of June is a tradition at the track everyone wants to be a part of and of course win".

Past events have seen some real drama with Strawberry Cup winners. Bruce Hipple winning the cup in the final laps with a light rain falling as he held off John Duty who applied some big time pressure. Hipple remained calm and drove to near perfection to win. Tim Zeller collected a Strawberry Cup after he built an engine from two different engines he had in the shop. Zeller assembled the engine the week building up to the race beat a very competitive field of drivers to park his car named Gertrude in Victory Lane.

It's stories like that that make the race special. Winning the Strawberry Cup isn't easy. Every driver and crew bring their best to the event. You can bet this Saturday night will be no different as teams unload in the pit area with intentions of adding their names to the prized winners list and collecting the highly desired trophy that reads Strawberry Cup Champion.

Fans will see five different division on the card. Super Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman and Street Stocks are providing the racing action.

Willamette Speedway will open the front gates at 3:30 for fans who want to attend the event. It's highly recommended that you arrive early to get a spot. General Admission: Adults $14, JR/SR/Mil $10, Youth $5 and 5-under Free. We also offer a family pass for 2 adults and up to 4 youths for $35. Grandstands are anticipated to be filled to capacity.
