GEARING UP FOR TWO EVENTS!

Willamette Speedway is excited about this weekends forecast and the racing that will come with it! There are two events scheduled for this Friday and Saturday. Friday, April 29th we will have our first Kart race of the season. Fans and teams are chomping at the bit to race and according to the forecast that is exactly what they're going to do. Saturday, April 30th we will have all classes, except Super Sports returning. After a rain set in shortly after qualifying last Saturday and soaked those in attendance there is little chance of repeating that scenario this weekend!

Week one winners are looking to repeat and expand their points leads while the rest of their respected competition will be trying to close those early gaps. Two weeks ago some interesting scenarios were witnessed in the Super Late Model division. Joey Tanner collected his first feature of the 2016 season driving a borrowed ride owned by Dave Walters and Trevor Glaser filled in for defending track champion Rob Mayea. Tanner sits atop the points while Mayea is a close second. Those cars finished first and second at the Cabin Fever Season Opener. This week Tanner will be back in action, the Walters car due to unforseen complications with his race engine and Mayea will be in action in the #37.

IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Hornets are also scheduled to provide the crowd with high speed action and thrills. John Campos, Tom Yeack, Justin Evans and Tracey Muse are all feature winners from week one who are looking to back up those wins with another trip to Victory Lane. The big story coming out of Willamette Speedway this weekend is the Hornet division and it's increased pay for this weekend only. The division is expected to draw cars from throughout the state with big money on line. Track officials are expecting a large field of the high revving four bangers to shoot it out for the big purse.

The Hornet division will pay seventy five dollars to win, fifty, forty, thirty and twenty for the top five. The big one-third mile of Willamette Speedway will give these cars a chance to really get wound up and see speeds most of these cars normally don't. Hornets are a growing class at Willamette and the track is hoping it draws interest to give those who want to a race a very affordable option to do so.

After a heated battle in the IMCA Modified feature on opening night, fans are certainly looking to seeing what plays out this Saturday for this highly competitive field of drivers. John Campos and Collen Winebarger put on a real thriller for the fans with Campos parked in the winners circle and "Superman" Collen Winebarger unhappy about a controversial call. These two friendly adversaries can't wait to go at it again.

Tom Yeack who put on a driving clinic in the Sportsman division has made it perfectly clear he has his sights set on nothing less than the track champion in 2016. Yeack drove away from the field and left them to race for second in display of domination that has to have the rest of the division a bit nervous.

Justin Evans drove his Ford powered Mercury Cougar to the Street Stock feature win. The Cougar and Evans are a familiar face in Victory Lane and fans will see Evans in attendance and shooting for consecutive wins to start the season.

If you're looking for something to do with the family this weekend then Willamette Speedway should be at the top of your list. Racing action that is fun for the entire family!
