The Street Stocks would play the role as the support class at Willamette Speedway on Thursday July 2nd. There would be some good racing on the track between all of the competitors even though just a handful signed in for the night.
Steve Nusom from Vancouver, Washington was the leader in the early stages of the race in his Northwest Building Supplies/Bud's Auto Wrecking/Metro Services #32 Camaro. Nusom lost the lead on lap three to Albany's Austin Bottcher in the Bottcher Family Racing #19 Camaro. It looked like Bottcher was on his way to his first win of the season but had some fast company trying to overtake him. On the last lap J.J. Irvine would be patient enough to stay with Bottcher and made a move on the final lap to win the race. It would be the first triumph of the season for Irvine, of Lebanon, and the Bullet Motorsports/Crocker's Cars/Bodies By Steve-O #K4 Camaro.
Austin Bottcher was second and the American Hero Carpet Cleaning/Dester Storm and Gulf War Veterans with PTSD/Yogurt Extreme/Showtime Graphics #97 entry, driver by Corvallis chauffeur Ryan Emry, was third. The rest of the top five would be made up of Steve Nusom in fourth and Gary Allison from Dallas in fifth in the Tim's Automotive/Pam Pam's Auto Wrecking/Dick Kludt Trucking #28 Camaro.
Willamette Speedway will be in action on Independence Day this Saturday July 4th for the annual Mid-Season Championship Night. All five regular classes will be on hand including the Super Dirt Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Super Sports, Sportsman, and Street Stocks. The regular Willamette format will be utilized and just a reminder that there will be NO fireworks on the 4th but there will some the following Saturday, the 11th, for the Crocker's Car Firecracker 100.
Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM, the Pit Meeting will take place at 2:30, Front Gates open at 3:30, and Racing starts at 6:00. Tickets for this event are Adults $14.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
