One local Willamette Speedway driver that is looking to rise to the occasion this weekend against the Wild West Modified Shootout is Dustin Cady. The Albany driver is a former champion at the historical 1/3-mile clay oval as well as a two-time winner of the prestigous Modified Tribute To Clair as well as a former Cottage Grove Speedway Modified Nationals winner in 2009. In four races at Willamette he has one main event victory and has finished out of the top five only once.
“It's been a pretty decent year for us,” said Cady, “I expected to be doing a little bit better but I can't complain that we're being so consistent.”
Cady has not made any of the Wild West Modified Shootout events yet but is looking forward to the two at Willamette Speedway on Friday June 19th and Saturday the 20th. So be on the lookout for the familiar black and yellow Drager Performance/Frank's Fab & Auto of Brownsville/Susan River Reality/Rock & Cady Ranch/D.K. Davenport Trucking/Nelson Family Farms/Öhlins by JDR/Phantom Racing Engines/Meyer's Towing/Advanced Auto Parts/AED Carbs #7 GRT. If he could get a win it would be one of the biggest of his career.
“I don't care which track you go to for the Speedweek deal it's tough,” he would continue to say, “I hope I can do well and just want to go out and have some fun. I think the big challenge will be the track conditions and how many crate cars are here. “
Friday and Saturday the Pit Gates will open at 1:00 PM, the Pit Meeting will take place at 2:30, Front Gates open at 3:30, and Racing starts at 6:00. Tickets for each event are Adults $14.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a family pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
