The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series would visit Willamette Speedway for the second time in 2014 on Friday July 25th for the ninth race of the season for the series. A total of thirteen entries would turn up for the first of two nights at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval located in Lebanon.
Brad Martin of Warren was hands down the car to beat come feature time. The youngster from Warren would set a wicked pace in his Reser’s Fine Foods/Wayne Martin Floor Covering/Competitive Edge Sign & Design/Alliance Automotive #99 MasterSbilt until a caution on lap three would bunch the field up,
Martin would reestablish his lead shortly after the restart and the field would go a whole twenty laps under green before a caution for debris would occur on lap twenty-four. That would set up a late race restart with Martin trying to keep behind him some very fast race cars.
On the ensuing restart Martin would continue to pace the field but on lap twenty-six Greg Walters of Banks would start to challenge for the top spot. The two would make it side-by-side for a couple of laps before Walters would eventually secure the lead and put his T&G Trucking/American Landscaping/Schram Brothers Excavating/Duncan Automotive #97 Victory Circle in victory lane for the sixth time in 2014.
Brad Martin would be a respectable second followed by Jerry Schram from Vancouver, Washington in his Schram Brothers Excavating/Bodies By Steve-O/Century III Stables #16 MasterSbilt in third. The rest of the top five would be made up of Bob Trout from Banks in the Mechanical Systems Inc./Greenway Construction #28 Victory Circle in fourth while behind him in fifth the Baxter’s Auto Parts/Blasen & Blasen Lumber Corp/Powell Motors/Myers Racing #9 Rayburn of Salem chauffeur Jacob Myers.
Greg Walters would set fast time of the night while heat race winners were Walters and Jacob Myers. It would be a complete sweep of the evening’s events as Walters would also pick up the victory in the trophy dash.
The Northwest Extreme Late Model Series will do it all again on Saturday July 26th for the final race of the weekend at Willamette. Things will begin at the normal 6:00 PM start time and tickets are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00.
