Willamette Speedway would not only host the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region on Friday May 23rd but also Street Stocks. Seventeen Street Stocks would sign in on the registration sheets for the evening’s events.
Earning the lead early was Lafayette’s Donny Allison chauffeuring his Tim’s Automotive/Les Schwab Tires-McMinnville/Dick Kludt Trucking #28 Camaro. Allison would set the pace until Monmouth’s Erik Jarnport made the pass for the top spot on lap four. Jarnport would lead for several laps in his West Coast Agriculture Construction Company/Les Schwab Tires #53 Monte Carlo until losing the position to Kyle Yeack on lap fourteen.
Yeack, from Lebanon and piloting the Doran Racing #47 Monte Carlo entry, was very quick and had a good size lead. But as the laps wound down Bricen James would make a pass on the inside of turn four. James, of Albany, would lead the rest of the distance putting his James Gang Pizza/Charlie James Racing Graphics/Rainbow Rentals #13 Monte Carlo in the winner’s circle to become the second different winner in as many races in the division.
Kyle Yeack was a respectable second followed by Kevin Roberts from Gresham in the Big Sky Landscaping #88 Camaro. Crossing the stripe in fourth was Dallas driver Ron Shinkle in his Johnny’s Towing/Highwallers Racing/Les Schwab Tires #42 Monte Carlo while fifth was the Al Flora owned Albie’s Medical Transport/Allied Medical Transport/X-Factor Race Cars #99 Cougar of Lebanon’s Justin Evans.
